The leading Online Grocery Coupon service WEBSAVER.CA has just released their redemption stats for this year. So far, Canadian consumers have redeemed over 12% more coupons distributed by Websaver.ca than they did last year. Stats show a variety of Grocery store preferences ranging from Walmart, Loblaws, Safeway and others.
Although the distribution of paper based and FSI coupons continue to increase in Canada, their redemption continues to decrease; dropping by more than 14% over the past 6 years. The likes of Websaver.ca and their main competitor Save.ca from Torstar are attracting more and more consumers due to the fact that online based/Digital and mobile based Grocery coupons are becoming more available. They are far easier to find and search than coupons stuffed in multiple papers and flyers.

Canadian Online Coupon Distributor Showcases Annual Growth
Toronto, Ontario (PRWEB) October 23, 2013
webSaver.ca, the leading online coupon distributor and publisher in Canada, has announced that customer redemption rates of coupons through its site are up over 12 percent in the last year. From 2012 to 2013, redemption by North American consumers grew by 12.3 percent, marking the highest redemption rates in company history.
Along with crucial data on the redemption rates of consumer coupons, webSaver.ca is able to break out comprehensive data about the habits and preferences of consumers utilizing its site. In analyzing data from consumers across all of Canada’s provinces, webSaver.ca has compiled a number of interesting data points showing the routines of savvy shoppers.
Data from coupon redemptions in Canada shows that consumers active on webSaver.ca:
- Use one out of every three coupons at a Loblaws location, however for Manitoba consumers that number jumps to three out of every four.
- Saskatchewan consumers use two out of every three coupons at Walmart, more than any other province.
- Although one in four webSaver.ca coupons across Canada are redeemed at Walmart locations, the majority of consumers in both Quebec and Nova Scotia prefer to use coupons at grocery stores instead.
- Alberta consumers use almost half of all of their coupons at Safeway locations (over 40 percent).
“This data is intriguing to look at and it’s something that we’re focused on breaking down year after year,” said Nizam Walji, President and Managing Partner at webSaver.ca. “This year, with roughly twelve percent more coupons being snapped up by our users, we’re able to get a more comprehensive look at how they’re being used and where they’re most frequently being presented.”
