Mobile coupons to explode to over 1 billion users by 2019

According to a report by Juniper Research, there will be some 1.05 billion mobile coupon users by 2019 (up from less than 560 million in 2014).

The report, entitled ‘Mobile Coupons: Consumer Engagement, Loyalty & Redemption Strategies 2014-2019’, suggested that the surge in user numbers would be due to increased retailer engagement with various mobile channels such as integrating coupons into loyalty programs or delivering coupons direct to consumers.

The report also provided discussion points around disruptive technologies such as NFC (Near Field Communications) and Beacons as having potential to boost in-store engagement in the medium term.

We certainly see a similar increase in coupon usage in Canada. However, in this country the increase will most likely come from an increase in mobile coupon inventory, cross marketing from coupon marketing partnerships, a significant increase in mobile coupons from local merchants, an increase in usage of mobile loyalty programs in Canada and an expansion of affiliate marketing as a standard go to marketing channel in Canada.24.201.226.48 This article is copyright 20
