Torstar owns the most brands in the deals space in Canada. They operate Wagjag, Jaunt, Travelalerts and own a piece of Tuango. They also operate, through Metroland, Flyerland and the popular coupon site Save.ca.

They recently announced a merger of sorts, atleast on the consumer interface side, between Save.ca and Flyerland. A new Save.ca site is being introduced in order to provide consumers with a one destination format to search for great Canadian coupons and flyer deals. Over 2 million Canadians use Save.ca.

We have noticed that the new design highlights not only flyer deals, but also the usual Save.ca Grocery coupons and some local deals as well. We wonder if the team behind Save.ca is considering adding deals from Wagjag to the Save.ca portal given that they are sister companies. As well, adding retail coupons from affiliate networks similar to Retailmenot and the like would make sense. With a name like Save.ca, adding all other deal types in order to build a one destination couponing site makes sense. Right now only RedFlagDeals can claim to being an ultimate deal portal.
